Inspiration and Love in the Time of Coronavirus
For inspiration and love in this challenging time, with much of our world on pause, I offer you a prayer and a poem.
May I be at peace.
May my heart remain open.
May I know the beauty of my own true nature.
May I be healed.
May I be a source of healing in the world.—Buddhist Prayer
“Hope” is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all –—Emily Dickinson
This is a challenging time for all of us – individually and together. We’re all asking when will this pandemic be over? What will it be like finally when we go back out into the world without our masks and gloves and return to our homes without washing our hands so vigorously? What will our future feel like?
What will happen when we resume our in person work and social lives?
Right now we’re in unchartered, unfamiliar territory. All of this raises our doubts, fears and anxiety with unknowns and uncertainty about how our situation will evolve and resolve. How will we be affected personally and how will our community and country change?
In this stressful time it’s important to remember you are not alone. We are all connected to each other. We’re all part of something greater – our families, communities and friendships. We’re all part of our nature, our environment, our bio-ecosystem and the planet we share.
We all play a part in how we go forward. We will rebuild and heal together. In this difficult process, we need to be kind to ourselves and kind to each other and to accept what the medical and other experts advise based on well thought out medical, scientific and other understandings.
In this unfamiliar and complicated time we feel the sadness from loss of too many precious lives. We need to rely on our experience, intelligence, common sense, insight and feeling of hope in our hearts.
We will make our way through this pandemic together and learn from each other during this challenging time.
